Melt-Blown Sediment Cartridges
NSF MELT-BLOWN SPUN POLYPROPYLENE
Melt-Blown sediment filters feature a graded density that uses the entire depth of the filter to trap
sediment, translating into high dirt-holding capacity. Other features include: thermally bonded fibers
will not migrate into water, filters available from 1 to 50 microns, broad chemical compatibility. Melt
blown polypropylene cartridges offer a self-supporting, thermally fused filter media that requires no
separate center support tube. No adhesives, binding agents or anti-static agents are used.

Big-Blue Melt-Blown Poly Sediment filters are constructed with 4-layers of different micron ratings.
The graded densities of layers capture particles throughout the entire cross section of the cartridge
reducing surface binding or buildup.
That sediment buildup results in greater pressure drops and quicker replacement of the cartridge. The
finer the particle the deeper through the surface of the cartridge it travels. Example: a 5 micron rated
cartridge has these four layer densities - Inside Layer - 5 micron, 2nd Layer - 10 micron, 3rd Layer - 25
micron, Outer Layer - 50 micron.
The Nelsen Big-Blue Sediment filters are made from 100% high purity polypropylene, have good
chemical resistance are not prone to bacteria attack. They are available in 1, 5, 10 & 25 micron rates
and come in 10 and 20 inch lengths.

Economy Melt-Blown Spun Polypropylene Cartridges
The Signature Series sediments are constructed with multi-layer depth filter cartridges manufactured
using a melt-blown process. These melt-blown cartridges feature graded density construction, which
captures particles throughout the entire cross-section of the cartridge and reduces surface binding that
can occur with string-wound filters. Combining quality and cost-effectiveness, these cartridges provide
excellent filtration value. Formed by thermal bonding without the use of binders or adhesives, the 100%
polypropylene material meets FDA CFR Title 21 requirements for contact with food and pharmaceutical
products. There is no fiber release or media migration. The three-layer structure offers consistent
particle retention and superior contaminant holding capacity. Spun fibers create a true gradient density
from the outer to inner layers, ensuring longer filtration life.
